SEAYANIKA - Cal Vader 49

Seayanika sailing off Dana Point DESIGN & LAYOUT

The hull has a "sugar-scoop" transom which increases the hull speed and incorporates built-in swim steps. A Side Power bow thruster distributed by IMTRA Corporation was installed to facilitate docking.

SEAYANIKA's also has a built-in pilothouse that partially encloses the cockpit.

This drawing shows the side and top view of SEAYANIKA. Notice the arch at the transom where the radar, solar panels and antenna are mounted. You may also notice the short bowsprit. This feature was added to help keep the main anchor away from the bow and to add a cool place to check out the dolphins.

The pilothouse ended up not being as raised as shown here. A well was created for the helmsman to stand in at the helm station, which allowed for a lower pilothouse.

Inside, beginning from aft, there is an owner's stateroom with ensuite head, followed by the engine room to port and passageway to starboard. The galley is to port and is U-shaped, with the dinette across on the starboard side. Forward to port is a library with a settee, which doubles as a single berth. This area can be closed off with a curtain to provide a semi-private stateroom. To starboard is the forward head, which is quite roomy. Further forward is another cabin, sleeping two in a V-berth. The interior accommodates five, however the cockpit transfors into a huge "play-pen" berth for those hot tropical nights.

A few modifications were made since this drawing was laid out. One modification that I love is the use of a drawer system for the refrigerator and freezer. It makes it so much easier to find stuff! The washer/dryer combo ended up in the aft cabin instead of the companionway, which is fine by me.
